Privacy Policy

Flight Monitor Pty Ltd (ABN 69 698 989 338, "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: your name, email address, and a securely hashed (never plain-text) password.
• Alert and route preferences: the routes you monitor, alert thresholds, nominated alert recipient email address(es), preferred currency, optimisation settings, and airline membership selections you choose to record.
• Subscription and billing information: your subscription tier, billing period, and trial/subscription dates. Payment is handled by our payment processor — we do not see or store your full card details.
• Technical information: standard server logs (such as IP address and browser/device information) collected for security, troubleshooting and service reliability.

2. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you when you register, set up routes and alerts, or contact us for support, and automatically through your use of the Service (e.g. session cookies that keep you logged in, and server logs). We do not use third-party advertising trackers or analytics scripts, and the Service carries no advertising.

3. How we use it

We use your information to:

• operate the Service — run price checks, send alerts and weekly summaries, and apply your preferences;
• manage your account, subscription and billing;
• communicate with you about your account, service changes, and (where you've agreed) product updates;
• maintain the security, integrity and reliability of the Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

4. Who we share it with

We disclose personal information only where necessary to provide the Service, to the following categories of recipients:

• Flight data provider (United Kingdom) — receives route search parameters (origin, destination, dates) to return live fares; does not receive your account identity.
• Email delivery provider (United States) — sends your account, alert and summary emails on our behalf, and so receives your alert email address(es) and message content.
• Payment processor (global, including the United States) — processes your subscription payments; we do not store your card details ourselves.
• Currency conversion service — converts displayed prices to your preferred currency; no personal information is disclosed.
• Hosting provider (Australia) — stores and runs the Service on Australian-based servers.

5. Overseas disclosure

Some recipients above are located overseas, including in the United Kingdom and the United States. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it's handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, including by relying on those providers' published privacy and data-protection commitments.

6. Storage and security

Your data is stored on Australian-based servers. Passwords are stored using industry-standard one-way hashing and are never visible to us in plain text. All traffic to and from the Service is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), and access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel.

7. How long we keep it

• Price history and market data are retained for six months and then automatically removed.
• Your alert history is retained permanently as your record of notifications you've received.
• Account data is retained for 12 months after you close or deactivate your account, after which it is deleted — unless we're required to retain it for longer (for example, for tax or financial record-keeping purposes).

8. Cookies

We use only essential session cookies needed to keep you logged in. We don't use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

9. Access, correction and complaints

You can ask us to access or correct the personal information we hold about you at any time by contacting us using the details below — we'll usually respond within 30 days. If you believe we've mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it directly. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above will reflect the most recent version, and we'll notify account holders by email of any change that materially affects how we handle their information.
